Jimah Coal Jetty

P141 | Marine Structures

Project Summary

SYS, in a joint venture with HRA Teguh Sdn Bhd, was engaged by Taisei Corporation to construct the Coal Unloading Jetty and Temporary Jetty for the 2x700MW coal-fired power station at Jimah, Port Dickson. With a contract value of RM 31.98 million, the project spanned from October 2005 to February 2008, providing vital marine facilities for the power station owned by Jimah Energy Ventures. This project formed an essential part of the civil works package awarded to Taisei by the EPC contractors Sumitomo & Sumi-Power Consortium.

The scope involved the supply and installation of concrete spun piles for both the Coal Unloading Jetty, which consisted of a 1,300-meter trestle and a 300-meter jetty head, and the Temporary Jetty. Over 500 diameter piles and 17,200 cubic meters of concrete were used for the substructure. SYS was also responsible for dredging works under a separate contract, removing over 930,000of seabed material to facilitate cooling water intake, the temporary jetty, and coal jetty operations, making the project a critical component in supporting the power station’s long-term functionality.
