Founded in 1952 as “See Yong Construction” and later rebranded as “See Yong & Son Construction” in 1967, our company has evolved over the past 70 years into a leader in marine infrastructure. From our early days as a drainage and irrigation contractor to becoming pioneers in dredging and reclamation, we have consistently delivered excellence and innovation in our projects
Here’s our journey through the decades…
Our Early Beginnings
SYS started as a drainage and irrigation contractor, working with agencies like JPS (Drainage and Irrigation Dept) and JKR (Public Works Dept), marking the start of our involvement in major infrastructure projects
New Horizons
During this period, the company was rebranded as See Yong & Son Construction, expanding into larger projects and earning a reputation for reliability. This era marked our entry into building and infrastructure works
Global Milestones
SYS started participating in tenders for various Agricultural Development Schemes financed by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank and successfully completed RM120 million of works under these schemes.
Venturing Into Marine Works
We took our first steps into marine works, gradually progressing to coastal, dredging, and reclamation through cooperation with international contractors
Malaysia's First Cutter Suction Dredger
Malaysia’s first cutter suction dredger was acquired by SYS in 1985. This made SYS the first local pioneer in dredging and reclamation works
Advancing into Submarine Pipelines
Venturing into the construction of cooling water system intake / outfall pipelines for power stations and refineries, SYS marked its first entry into the energy sector
Growth and Innovation
As SYS entered the new decade, the focus shifted to incorporating advanced technologies and construction methods for greater efficiency and sustainability. Key achievements included:
- Secured 1st EPCC Project via Vale Jetty Works
- Secured 2nd EPCC Project & First with Petronas via Teluk Ramunia MOLF
- Awarded 2nd Petronas EPCC Project via Pengerang Solids Product Jetty
- Awarded PCC Contract by Petronas
Throughout this period, SYS remained committed to quality, timely project completion, and maintaining a safe workplace
