When the hinterland of the Sg. Pulai is being developed into various water resources schemes, and construction of port facilities for deep draft vessels is being implemented, the coastline at and surrounding the project site is observed to be eroding at fast rate. Mangroves are falling due to the erosion of the soil underneath them.
