pekan submarine pipeline

P192 | Submarine Pipelines & CWS

Project Summary

SYS was engaged by Pegagau Aquaculture Sdn Bhd to undertake critical infrastructure work for a shrimp farm located at the HIP Industrial Zone in Kampung Pulau Permatang Pauh, Pekan, Pahang. This project, which took place from July 2013 to October 2013, had a four-month duration and involved the installation of seawater intake and submarine pipeline systems. The client, Pegagau Aquaculture, was invited by the Ministry of Aquaculture of Malaysia to develop the aquaculture industry in the region.

The project scope included dredging a trench for the 360-meter-long submarine pipeline and preparing the foundation for the seawater intake structure. SYS installed a 360-meter-long, 1,000mm OD PE100 PN8 HDPE pipeline, using 120 nos. concrete sinkers each weighing 4 tons for controlled submersion. The installation process involved underwater jointing of the pipeline to the seawater intake structure, followed by rigorous testing before backfilling the pipe trench. The HDPE pipes and seawater intake were supplied as free-issue materials.
